- Roller Bit Core Barrel is used to cut an annular groove in the very strong rock formation, which rock uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) normally above 80MPa (up to 350MPa) and with high RQD.
- The penetration rate range from 300mm-800mm/h, with upgraded features on the roller bit core barrel, depends on the soil condition
- RB-CB not only can improve the penetration rate, but also reduce drilling chatter and the strain on drilling rigs, compared to core barrels with bullet teeth/Round shank cutters.
- Both Bolt-On type and welding type are available

Core Barrel Drilling is a more efficient way to drill the hard rock compared to rock auger or drilling buckets. firstly, it will cut an annular slot only in the hard rock, not cut a full face as the rock drilling bucket does, then extract the rock core in the whole piece by special design coring barrel.
Rock Core Barrel normally have two types in piling & foundation projects, roller bit core barrel & RSC(Round shank chisels) core barrel. Roller bit core barrel work for low fractured super hard rock, UCS above 80MPa. and RSC core barrel mainly for the drilling work which rock UCS less than 80 Mpa. both of them are used to cut an annular space in the rock and extract the rock core.
The Penetration Rate depends on many factors, the RQD, CR, UCS, the operating, core barrel design. to give a general idea for this, for UCS 110MPa, low weathered granite, the production can be ranged from 0.3m-0.7m / h, we highly recommend improving the core barrel design to get ideal production.
Core Barrel Length is normally 1.5m-3m designed for rock drilling in piling & foundation projects. this data does not contain the kelly box length. mainly for core barrel dia. 800-1800mm. the drilling efficiency will be low if the net length is less than 1.2 m.
